I love the energy and excitement of working in the ER. Before I went back to school to get my nursing degree, I spent 23 years as a paramedic. In that job you spend a lot of time in different emergency rooms, so I became very familiar with the hospitals in our area.
I chose to work at Lovelace Women’s Hospital because I like the environment. You hear a lot about teamwork, but it’s especially important in the ER. That’s one of the best things about this hospital – the doctors and nurses work really well together.
I’ve been fortunate to work here during a really exciting time. We expanded our emergency room last year and opened a new state-of-the-art NICU. As a nurse, it’s great to see the hospital investing in new technology and equipment that will benefit our patients.
I also appreciate that nurses have a voice here. Our leadership wants to hear what we have to say and takes our input into consideration when making decisions.
